Basic Information & Properties
Q1: What is Poly-D-glucose (Polyglucose)?
A: Poly-D-glucose, also named Polydextrose (CAS: 68424-04-4, E1200), is a water-soluble dietary fiber produced by polymerizing D-glucose, sorbitol and citric acid. It is a multi-functional low-calorie food additive widely used in food, beverage and health products worldwide.
Q2: What does your product look like? Is it easy to dissolve?
A: It is white free-flowing fine powder. The solubility is over 70% in room-temperature water, and the aqueous solution is clear without turbidity or precipitation.
Q3: What is the calorie and GI value of Polydextrose?
A: It only contains 1 kcal/g, much lower than sucrose. Its GI value is less than 10, which will not cause blood sugar elevation.
Application & Formulation
Q4: What products can Polydextrose be added to? What is the recommended dosage?
A: It is suitable for beverages, dairy products, bakery goods, confectionery, frozen food, meat products and health supplements. The general dosage ranges from 0.5% to 20% according to different applications. For health products, the daily intake for adults is 10–20g.
Q5: Can Poly-D-glucose replace sugar, erythritol or other sweeteners?
A: It can partially replace sucrose and sugar alcohols. It provides mild sweetness, improves product texture and adds dietary fiber. Mixing it with erythritol or stevia can create a taste closer to sucrose and cut production costs.
Q6: Will it affect the original flavor of the finished food?
A: Our high-purity Polydextrose is nearly tasteless and odorless. Proper addition will not change the original flavor of your products.
Processing Stability
Q7: Is Polydextrose stable under high temperature, acid or freezing conditions?
A: Yes. It features excellent heat resistance, acid resistance and freeze-thaw stability. It keeps stable during high-temperature baking, sterilization and long-term freezing, with no decomposition or quality change.
Q8: Can it be used in transparent drinks and jelly?
A: Absolutely. Thanks to its high solubility and clear solution, it is an ideal choice for transparent beverages, jelly and other high-end liquid products.
Safety & Consumption
Q9: Is Polydextrose safe for human consumption? Is it approved by international authorities?
A: It is a globally recognized safe food ingredient. It complies with FCC, USP, EU E1200 and China GB standards, and is allowed to be used in food in most countries and regions.
Q10: Are there any side effects after eating? Who is it suitable for?
A: Moderate intake brings no side effects. A small number of people may feel slight flatulence if taking more than 30g per day, which is a normal temporary reaction. It is friendly to diabetics, people on a diet and groups pursuing healthy diets.
Q11: Does Polydextrose help with intestinal health?
A: Yes. It acts as a natural prebiotic, which can nourish beneficial bacteria in the gut, balance intestinal flora and promote intestinal peristalsis.
Purchase, Packaging & Storage
Q12: What are your packaging specifications? Can you do customized packaging?
A: Standard packages: 1kg trial bag, 25kg paper-plastic bag and 1000kg ton bag. Customized packaging and private labels are available upon request.
Q13: What is the shelf life and correct storage method?
A: The shelf life is 24 months in unopened original packaging. Please store it in a sealed, cool, dry and dark place, and keep away from high temperature and moisture.
Q14: Can I get free samples before bulk order?
A: Yes. We provide free samples from 100g to 1kg. Customers only need to cover the freight. Complete COA, MSDS and certification documents will be attached.
