Allulose (Diabetes friendly)
Dec 31, 2025Allulose is a natural and rare sugar substitute that is friendly to people with diabetes. It has a glycemic index (GI) of 0 and has almost no effect on blood sugar and insulin. It can effectively reduce the peak blood sugar level after meals for type 2 diabetes patients, reduce the burden on insulin secretion by the pancreas, and help manage blood sugar levels stably.
It has only 0.4 kcal per gram, which is only 1/10 of that of sucrose. The US FDA has approved it as a non-added sugar in food and it has been recognized as safe (GRAS). The safe daily intake is 5-15 grams, and there is no burden on consumption.
It has a sweet taste comparable to that of sucrose and is suitable for various scenarios such as baking, beverages, desserts, and protein bars. It also has Maillard reaction and water retention properties, which do not affect the flavor and texture of food. It is recommended to start with 2-3 grams for the first time and increase the amount after tolerance. People with hereditary fructose intolerance should not use it. It is recommended to consult medical staff before consumption.
Core highlights: GI=0 for blood sugar control, low calories, safe and compliant, good taste, can actively regulate post-meal blood sugar, better than erythritol / stevia, no bitter aftertaste, suitable for the essential needs of diabetes diet management.
